Well, for those of you who know me well, I’m a classic animation nut. This is not to say I don’t revel in some of the newer classics, such as South Park, The Simpsons and Family Guy (as well as appreciate the stylistic liberties taken with Batman and Star Wars / Samurai Jack), but I’m a sucker for old Warner Brothers and MGM cartoons.
So, with the recent job change, I gave myself a congratulatory gift (as well as clearing it with the wife, since she’s tortured by it) as well as agreeing to spend a little of our Christmas money on some animation DVDs. In short, I guess I went nuts, but I feel I’ll have a nice animation library to appease my need for some quick fun while riding the metro, or even something else to watch while exercising. So, here’s the fun list of items I’m now digitizing for viewing later… ooh, fun!
Looney Tunes Golden Collection - Volumes 1 through 5
Woody Woodpecker & Friends
The Complete Droopy Collection
The Simpsons - Seasons 1 through 10
Futurama - Season 1 through 4
Futurama - Bender’s Big Score
Family Guy - Freakin’ Party Pack - Volumes 1 through 5 (and Stewie - The Untold Story)
Family Guy - Blue Harvest
Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection - Volumes 1 through 3
…and…
South Park - Seasons 1 through 10 (hopefully arriving next week from a good eBay deal!)
Finally, I’ll be all animated out… however, I will still need to transfer the DV tapes of the laserdiscs I had of the Warner Brothers and Tex Avery collections over to DVD or some other medium as well to fill in the gaps.Ill hopefully, as well, have enough in a portable format in order to get the Tex Avery site up an running in the next few months. I’ve been getting a few books that have been published recently, as well as my guide, the John Canemaker book (I have 4 copies of it). I still need to get some animation cells… those will be my coup de gras…. my birthday is coming up… you can contribute to the Lego Millenium Falcon or offer up a Tex Avery (or two) animation cell… ![]()
For those who don’t know me, well… welcome to one of my OTHER passions! Cheers.
