The second of five films, this one being almost pitch perfect with casting, writing, and overall feeling. For once, a definitive winner can be seen , that for Hellen Mirren as Best Actress as Queen Elizabeth.
The films supporting cast was just as perfect, providing another, almost shocking side to what was a private moment for such public individuals. The humor was extremely complimentary to the drama unfolding, and, I think, kept the wit at the right level without resorting to satire, which it easily could have become. I think that this series of well balanced properties will allow The Queen to be if not the one, at least the direct runner up for Best Picture.
