Well, it was expected, albeit not as soon as it actually happened.

I dropped it.

Yes, you heard me right I dropped it. I dropped my motorcycle. Something dumb to do, and done at a bad time.

I was planning on taking the afternoon and practice the simple stuff (abeit, it is actually complex) in a church parking lot across the street from our development.

First off, many of you will say… yes, it’s stupid, you didn’t call me , of course you fucked up.

Well, contrary to many, I had been studying on how to operate the motorcycle correctly, almost incessantly. I was planning on practicing stops, turns and simple shifting. I had done a few rounds in my neighborhood and wanted to get to a place where I wasn’t dealing with cars and kids running across the street.

So, I headed over. I was followed by the wife over to the parking lot. I was on my fifith lap back and forth, when a took a left turn to avoid a drainage gate. upon makign the turn, my hand slipped on the throttle, and I had let go of the clutch to quickly and was pointed in the wrong direction… towards the trees. Too near to the edge of the pavement, I leaned it over (I think I attempted at least the rear brake as well) and slid for a few feet (I was going about 10-12 mph at the time… which was after I had made the turn and hit the throttle). I came down off the bike on my knee (thank god for body armor) and the bike came down on my left foot.

Suffice it to say, I’m one sore SOB. I didn’t feel any clicking, my toes work, and no visible surface bruises are there. I think I gave my body a good shake.

Unfortunately, I scraped up the left side of the bike in about 5-6 places, and scraped a cover on the engine (which petrudes fromt he underside). The only thing visibly broken is the left front turn signal cover. I expect that is easy to replace (and cheap).

Another unfortunate “bad thing” is that being in recoperation mode, I won’t be riding the bike for the rest of the month I feel. So I will be making a trip to the bike shop for the tires and parts ordered last week and wait until spring to inspect (possibly) or call a friend to wheel it on up to the bike shop to get it’s once over.

Bleh, well, it had to happen, I’m sure of it, at least I learned that it was a controlled location and I was wearing proper attire for safety. Shame on me.
